Jerry Sweeney, Managing Director:
Jerry founded Chip Electronic Services Limited in 1986. The company
was a market leader in repair and rework of electronic goods,
and grew to a level of over two hundred staff operating from four
locations, two in Ireland, one in Scotland and one in The Netherlands.
Customers included Apple, Compaq, Dell, Gateway, IBM and others.
In 2002, the company made a decision to move from hardware to software
services. From 2002 to 2004 this transition occured. In line with
this strategy change, a new company name, Chip eServices was registered.
In 2007 the company invested in the construction of a data centre, Cork Internet eXchange,
from which to host the software developed by the company.
Prior to founding Chip, Jerry worked with Analog Devices BV, an integrated
circuit (IC) manufacturer as a test and product assurance engineer. Jerry has
also lectured on Electronic/Electrical Engineering and on TCP/IP Internetworking. Jerry
holds a Batchelor Degree in Electrical Engineering from University College
Cork and has an M.Sc. in Supply Chain Management from the Dublin Institute of Technology.
Karen O' Connell, Financial Director:
Karen O' Connell joined Chip e-Services' in September 2000 and
is responsible for the management of all finance and corporate
governance issues.
Karen has over 20 years experience in the legal profession and
has qualifications in Law, Resource Management, Training and Development,
And Social Studies.
